Money anxiety in your 20’s

Welcome to money worries in your 20’s (and mine) and whatever age you are honestly!

Your 20’s are sold to you as freedom and fun. But, no one prepares you for the quiet financial stress that sits on your mind when the rent is due, when the savings feel small, or when everyone else seems ahead.

Okay, so I’m 22, turning 23 this year. Over the past year I’d say, money worries have definitely become more known. Since moving out with my bestie last November, the financial burden that lays with me now, is something I’m obviously not used to. Yes, I know that technically it was my decision to move out in the first place, but there’s so many reasons to why I wanted to move. (Which I’m not going to get into today!) Anyway, I think that one of the reasons why this was a huge shock to my system, was because I was never taught anything with how to deal with money and how much it costs to actually live. I definitely think that this is something that should be brought up in schools more, because it will save the shock and the worry when the time comes to moving out or whatever the situation may be. Another thing that I didn’t even know, was what an ISA was before I moved out. Needless to say, I do feel stupid now!

Also, to remind anyone that is going through any financial stress. This is completely normal to experience, so you’re not alone because I’ve been there myself a few times and I’m currently not in the best position right now. That’s something for another day to catch up on. Please be sure to follow me for more parts of the story/series.
