Sunday Reset ( 1 )
Hey everyone! I think today calls for a reset routine, after quite a long week. So I’m going to share with you some of my favourite ways to end the week. Now bare in mind, I’m still figuring out what works for me and ways to improve making the most of my time! This is your gentle reminder to relax, recuperate, and reset your mind and space.
My 2 hour Sunday reset routine -
Lets start off with Sunday mornings. Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but now that I’m a little bit older. I actually don’t really like the thought of laying in that much. I find that I enjoy waking up about 07:30 and starting my day about an hour later. Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that I generally feel better when I get things done first thing in the morning, rather than later on in the day. It’s what I like to call “My Sunday Morning Reset.”
I just want to put it out there. If you’re the type of person that’s really not into this whole resetting situation. I totally understand, it took me the longest time to even gather my thoughts in the morning, let alone getting shit done! But hey, it’s never too late to start!
I set my alarm for 07:30 ( By the way if I feel like I need more sleep, I’ll always listen to my body and you should too. ) Then I allow myself an hour to stir around a little and wake up properly. ( Giving myself this hour to actually wake up and not rush around, really helps my anxiety in the mornings, especially with my medical condition as it’s usually worser at this time. )
I usually make my bed about 08:00/08:30. If it falls on the day I need to wash my bedding and sheets, I typically won’t make my bed as I’ve got to put clean bedding on anyway.
Next, is coffee time. Now, for me personally I cannot sacrifice my coffee time! It’s kind of like my alone time before I need to get stuff done. This is when I go over what needs doing for the day. Sometimes I’ll have breakfast if I feel like it.
Journaling -
Getting to write what you want whenever you want. Whether that’s what you feel, to do list for the day, or just random thoughts. There’s so much peace in it.
Okay so journaling isn’t for everyone, I guarantee that. There was a time, not even that long ago, where I journaled every single day, multiple times. And don’t get me wrong, it was good to jot down my feelings at the time. But, after some time when my mental health was pretty bad. When I was depressed and my anxiety was through the roof. It got to the point where I was stressing so much when it came to writing everything down, I couldn’t cope with that anymore! I continuously “had to” write down all these negative thoughts, that did destroy me at the time.
However, now I have created a healthy relationship with journaling. After quite a while of struggling with how to deal with my emotions. I finally found a solution that works for me. No, at the end of the day it’s not perfect and I still do struggle often. That’s something that I’m on a journey with.
The solution I came up with -
The simplest of things I could think of was, basically, only to journal when I feel like I need to clear some stuff up, or if I want to. It’s as simple as that. ( It hasn’t been an easy task! ) To be honest, I have done it this way for the past few months and it’s definitely the best way I’ve tried! ( And you should try different ways too. )
